Promoting education, innovation and capacity-building
Africa in the Moot NFP (AitM) is a volunteer-led non-profit organisation that supports the development of African law students in the areas of international commercial law and international arbitration through increased in-person participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition and affiliated events. AitM empowers students throughout the Vis Moot journey through by hosting an in-person Pre-Moot and Arbitration Conference on the African continent, and providing education and training, access to resources, exposure to an international arbitration network and logistical and financial support. By doing so, Africa in the Moot helps to address broader barriers to access, which builds capacity on the African continent in international arbitration, and promotes greater diversity and inclusion of Africans in the Vis Moot and the wider international arbitration community.
Who we are
We are a group of legal practitioners, academics and Willem C. Vis Moot alumni from all around the world, supporting the the development of African lawyers. We are collaborating with the shared mission of creating opportunities for African students on the international stage and the advancement of international arbitration for Africa.
