Who We Are
Mzumbe University Vis Moot Team 2024/2025 is the fourth team to participate in the Willem C. International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The team comprises six law students with a keen interest in studying the field of ADR practice, and hopeful that the Vis Moot experience will further boost their interest in the field.
The team is composed of Abubakari Gembe, Neema Amon, Aichi Mvungi, Lorraine Oloo, Geremana Sweke and Latifa Njaa.
Abubakari Gembe
Abubakari is currently a student of Mzumbe University pursuing Bachelor of Laws degree and is in his final year.
Aichi L. Mvungi
Aichi is currently a third year student Mzumbe University in Tanzania pursuing a Bachelors degree in Law.
Loraine A. Oloo
Loraine is a dedicated law student at Mzumbe University in Tanzania, where her curiosity, confidence, and open-mindedness shine through. She is deeply committed to social justice and aspires to use her legal education to advocate for marginalized communities and foster equity.
Through her active participation in moot court competitions and volunteer work with local advocacy groups, Loraine not only sharpens her legal skills but also builds meaningful connections with others who share her passion for justice. She embraces the challenge of questioning conventional ideas, encouraging her peers to consider a range of perspectives.
With her relentless determination and belief in the law's ability to drive positive change, Loraine is ready to make a significant difference in the legal field. Her journey reflects a strong desire to impact society and uphold the values of fairness and justice.
Geremana Sweke
Geremana Sweke is a student of Mzumbe University located in Tanzania. Geremana is equipped with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles, coupled with strong analycal and research skills. Geremana’s dedication to precision, effecve communication, and commitment to problem-solving positions her as a dynamic professional ready to contribute to the legal field.
Neema Amon
Neema Amon is an LLB student at Mzumbe University in her final year. Neema has been a participant in various Moots including the Deakin international Arbitration Moot in 2024, and the Green Law Africa intiative Moot based on climate change. She was a coordinator of the Sarah F Kpodo international Moot Court in Tanzania. Neema Amon is also the country director of the African Law Students Association in Tanzania.
Mees Vermeij (Coach)
Mees is currently an LLM candidate in International Trade & Investment Law at the University of Amsterdam. This is his second year (satellite) coaching with Africa in the Moot.
Sophia George Kavishe (Coach)
Sophia George is a recent graduate from Mzumbe University holding a bachelors degree in law. Her interest in International commercial arbitration emanated after her participation in various international and national moot court competitions focused on alternative dispute resolution and international law.
Her interests in law range from international commercial arbitration, intellectual property law, energy and gas to corporate law. She is also a writer and researcher in legal aspects.
Currently, she serves as an assistant coach for Mzumbe University in the 32nd Vis Moot. She believes through that position she will share her skills and knowledge and also share her good oral advocacy skills.
Malewo Chiwanga (Coach)
Malewo Chiwanga is a dedicated legal scholar and lawyer in training with a strong passion for international arbitration and climate law. As an LL.B. graduate from Mzumbe University, she brings a solid foundation of knowledge and experience to the table.
Having actively participated in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Competition, Malewo has firsthand knowledge of the demands and intricacies of international commercial arbitration. Currently, she is coaching the Mzumbe University team for the upcoming Vis Moot as well as working as a Legal Officer for LEAD Foundation
Beyond her coaching role, Malewo is committed to supporting all Tanzanian participation in arbitration competitions. Her goal is to foster a strong legal community in Tanzania and empower future generations of legal scholars.
Conradus Kakoko (Coach)
Conradus Kakoko is currently a law graduate from Mzumbe University, Morogoro Region Campus. Conradus is passionate about Trade Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution with a focus on International Commercial Arbitration, and Cyber Law. His practical exposure includes participating in prestigious International Moot Courts such as the Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2022 and 2023, the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court in Vienna, and the AIAC-APAC Pre-Vis Moot in 2024. Through these experiences, he has built valuable connections and networks with institutions like the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators and the Tanzania International Arbitration Centre. Conradus is committed to continuous growth in his areas of interest and is dedicated to helping young lawyers develop their skills in the legal arena.
Fortunate Kirabo (Coach)
Fortunate is a recent graduate and a lawyer. He recently passed the bar exam of Uganda and he is currently undergoing professional jobs legal training.
