Who We Are

The University of Dar es Salaam Vis team is a group of diverse and hardworking students with unique legal comprehension. The Team is composed of five female students and one male student. Who are Ms. Elizabeth Akol Sarah, Ms. Lydia Igogo, Ms. Daryla Walwa, Ms. Naomi Dustan Mwalyambi, Ms. Shogo Shadrack Mwakalila and Mr. Gwamaka Wilson Kulala. The team is supported by six dedicated coaches Mr. David Leonce Ndika, Mr. Jan Šlehofer, Ms. Getrude Naphtali Makunganya, Ms. Lucky Philomena Mbaye, Ms. Rose Mdenye and Ms. Elaine Bawazir.

The University started to participate in the Willem C. Vis Moot competition for the first time in the 29th Vis moot that was held virtually. In the 30th Vis Moot Competition the team was able to participate physically for the first time in Vienna. The team is excited to embark on their Vis Moot Journey.

Aidawema Mwaruka

Aidawema Mwaruka is currently a fourth year student in University of Dar es Salaam. She is undertaking a degree in Bachelor of Laws. She’s holds interests in Commercial Law, Tax Law, Corporate Law, Arbitration and Human Rights Law.

Aidawema is an enthusiatic mooter who has participated in several moots since her pursuit for her degree that including the 3rd National Victory Attorneys Moot Court Competition in 2023 and the 2024 Univeristy of Dar es Salaam Moot Court Competition. She is also expecting to participate in the 9th edition of the Great Lakes Regional Training in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in Kigali which will also include a moot court competition.

In her learning experience, she has interned at the National Insurance Corporation from July to October 2023. She is an impressive team worker and is always eager to learn and gain further experience to futher her legal career.

Catherine Msigwa

Catherine is a student at the University of Dar-es-salaam, interested in knowledge expansion and trying new fields of learning to boost competency as she navigates her career. Catherine is interested in the commercial law and human rights law. She is goal-driven and welcomes each new experience with an open-minded mind.

Her enthusiastic attitude has driven her to participate in the 32nd Vis Moot. Outside the legal field, she enjoys finance and life skills educational podcasts, social networking, and familiarizing herself with technological trends, their applicability, and impact such as AI technology, e-commerce, and digital working. She looks forward to what the 32nd Vis moot journey will unveil for the betterment of her career journey.

Linda Nkhambaku

Linda Wilson Nkhambaku is currently a second-year student at the University of Dar es Salaam, pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Aspiring to become a skilled and respected lawyer, Linda is dedicated to developing her legal expertise and engaging in meaningful discussions with her colleagues to enhance their collective academic experience.

Now, as a participant in the 32nd William Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Linda is driven by a desire to expand her horizons and explore new fields of learning. With an enthusiastic attitude, she is determined to boost her competency as she navigates her career path.

As she embarks on her 32nd Vis Moot journey, she is eager to uncover new opportunities that will further enhance her career aspirations. With great passion and a commitment to continuous learning, she is poised to make the most of this valuable experience.

Anaïs Frischknecht (Coach)

Anaïs Frischknecht holds an MLaw degree from the University of Zurich and is currently working at an arbitration law firm in Zurich as she prepares for the Zurich Bar exam. A former Mootie, she continues to pursue her passion for mooting by coaching the team from Dar es Salaam.

Grace Dowdle (Coach)

Grace is in her final year of a dual Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Business Management degree at the University of Queensland in Australia. She competed in the 31st Vis Moot in 2024 and won the Deakin Moot in 2023, both of which piqued her interest in international commercial arbitration and dispute resolution generally. Through these competitions, she came across many Africa in the Moot teams and was inspired by their hard work and creative argumentation. This motivated Grace to contribute to the Africa in the Moot initiative as a coach.
