Who We Are

The University of Cape Town is a public university founded in 1829. They joined the Africa in the Moot initiative for the 2022 Willem C. Vis Moot which represented their first time participating in the Moot.

Art Wynberg

Art Wynberg is a final year law student at the University of Cape Town, and he has represented the university in moot competitions at a national level. His focus lies mostly in public and environmental law, however he has a fast-growing interest in international arbitration. He is a first-time Vis Moot participant. In the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot, he has been working largely on the substantive issues raised by the fact set and has enjoyed engaging with much of the yet-unresolved issues at hand. Prior to studying law, he completed a Bachelor of Music and still teaches part-time.

 

Jered Shorkend

Jered Shorken is a final year law student at the University of Cape Town. His main interest areas are civil litigation, civil procedure, and alternative dispute resolution. The most enjoyable part of the moot so far has been learning about and working through the choice of law issues arising out of omissive international contracts such as the one in the Moot Problem.

 

Haydon Anderson

Haydon Anderson is a 3rd year LLB student at the University of Cape Town. He is deeply passionate about constitutional litigation domestically and abroad, with a particular interest in human rights. He has participated in a number of initiatives aimed towards reforming South Africa's electoral system. Beyond the realm of law, he is an avid cinephile.

 

Daniel Robert Erasmus

Daniel Erasmus is in his final year of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Previously, also at the University of Cape Town, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree specialising in Economics with Law. During that time, he was significantly involved in student governance. Holding the position of Secretary-General of the Students’ Representatives Council, he advocated for the interests of students and workers on both a policy and decision-making level.  

 

Khanya Dambuza

Khanya Dambuza is a final year law student at the University of Cape Town and part of the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot team. In her spare time she enjoys reading and running.

 

Ropafadzo Zharare

Ropafadzo Zharare is a 2nd year LLB student at the University of Cape Town. She enjoys oral argumentation and exploring multiple areas of legal research, which she can explore through the amazing experience of the Vis Moot.
