Who We Are

The 2024/2025 University of Cape Town Vis Moot team is compromised of Amohelang Molefi, Ben Reid, Daria Mordvinova, Galaletsang Morake, Kerrin Baker, Nyashadzashe Tinago and Tendai Mikioni. The team is coached by MarcAnthonny Bonanno, Alejandro Martinez, Lizwi Majola and Haydon Anderson. This diverse collective of legal minds, each demonstrate an enthusiastic and curious spirit towards the field of international commercial arbitration.

The University of Cape Town has participated in the Vis Moot since 2021, and has been making significant competitive strides on the competition each year. The team aims to use the Vis Moot as an educational experience and an opportunity to connect with many fellow students and legal professionals in Africa and around the world.

Amohelang Molefi

Amohelang Molefi is currently an LLB student in the intermediate year at the University of Cape Town. She has a Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring in politics and governance. Amohelang is passionate about international law and is excited to be part of the Vis Moot as it is a unique opportunity to explore international commercial arbitration. 

Ben Reid

Ben is a 1st year Law student at the University of Cape Town. He is accompanying his legal studies with a History degree.

Daria Mordvinova

Daria is a graduate LLB student in her Intermediate year at the University of Cape Town. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Economics and Law. Daria has always had an interest in the intersection of law and commerce, so she is enthusiastic about the Vis Moot and the enriching opportunity it presents to engage in international commercial arbitration.

Galaletsang Morake

Galaletsang is in her preliminary year of the Graduate LLB at the University of Cape Town. Prior to law school, she earned an honours degree in philosophy. She is participating in the Vis Moot because it is an ideal opportunity to engage with the conflict of laws in cross-border disputes.

Kerrin Baker

Kerrin is a LLB student in his intermediate year at the University of Cape Town. He has an undergraduate degree in politics and law and has always had a keen interest in international relations. Kerrin is looking forward to seeing how the Law of Contract and International law converge in international commercial arbitration and is excited to meet enthusiastic law students from around the world. 

Nyashadzashe Tinago

Nyashadzashe is an Industrial Sociology graduate from the University of Cape Town. She is currently pursuing her LLB and in 2025, she will be completing her final year.

Tendai Mikioni

Tendai Mikioni holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He serves as a Research Assistant at the iNtaka Centre for Law & Technology at UCT, where he is involved in cutting-edge legal research. Tendai is an accomplished academic tutor and has presented research at esteemed international conferences. He has also argued in both national and international moot court competitions, showcasing his advocacy and analytical skills.

Alejandro Martinez Sanchez (Coach)

Alejandro graduated with a law degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and earned LL.M. degrees from ESADE and the Cardozo School of Law. With over four years of experience, Alejandro has specialized in dispute resolution and corporate law, working across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Lizwi Majola (Coach)

Lizwi is a graduate LLB student at the University of Cape Town. Lizwi is a seasoned mooter having competed in various competitions, including the Vis moot, as well as coaching UCT moot teams. Beyond mooting, Lizwi is a academic research assistant at the Centre for Law and Society and the Editor in Chief of the Responsa Meridiana Student Law Journal.

Haydon Anderson (Coach)

Haydon Anderson is deeply passionate about constitutional litigation domestically and abroad, with a particular interest in human rights. He grew immensely as both a mooter and a legal student having participated in numerous pre-moots and workshops that were, in no small part, facilitated by Africa in the Moot.

After challenging his mooting ability before a number of esteemed tribunals, he is excited to utilise these skills to build towards new heights in this year’s competition.
