“Africa in the Moot” and the Spirit of the Vis Moot

VIS_Vorlage-Kopf_hoch_cut-300x236.jpg

At the Willem C. Vis Moot, “the” moot competition in international commercial arbitration, the Michael L. Sher Award for the Spirit of the Willem C. Vis Moot is “awarded to a team or an individual student for its dedication and commitment to the Spirit of the Vis Moot.” This year, the award went to the University Eduardo Mondlane’s team from Maputo, Mozambique.

It was University Eduardo Mondlane’s first participation in the Vis Moot. They were coached by my colleague Michael Wietzorek as part of his “Africa in the Moot” initiative, which aims to support universities from Africa. “Africa in the Moot” is supported by GIZ, the German international cooperation agency. Please do reach out to Michael if you want to learn more about “Africa in the Moot” or, even better, if you want to support this initiative.
