Who We Are
The University of Dar es Salaam Vis team is a group of diverse and hardworking students with unique legal comprehension. The Team is composed of five female students and one male student. Who are Ms. Elizabeth Akol Sarah, Ms. Lydia Igogo, Ms. Daryla Walwa, Ms. Naomi Dustan Mwalyambi, Ms. Shogo Shadrack Mwakalila and Mr. Gwamaka Wilson Kulala. The team is supported by six dedicated coaches Mr. David Leonce Ndika, Mr. Jan Šlehofer, Ms. Getrude Naphtali Makunganya, Ms. Lucky Philomena Mbaye, Ms. Rose Mdenye and Ms. Elaine Bawazir.
The University started to participate in the Willem C. Vis Moot competition for the first time in the 29th Vis moot that was held virtually. In the 30th Vis Moot Competition the team was able to participate physically for the first time in Vienna. The team is excited to embark on their Vis Moot Journey.
Meet the Team
Darlya Walwa
Darlya is a dedicated and passionate third year law student at the University of Dar es salaam.
Darlya is currently completing her bachelor's degree in law in Dar es salaam.
Elizabeth Akol Sarah
Elizabeth Akol Sarah is a fourth year student currently pursing Bachelor of Laws degree at University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. She has great interest in the legal disciplines of taxation, commercial arbitration law, corporate law and natural resources law.
She has previously participated in the Alfred Deakin ICA Moot where she demonstrated her outstanding mooting skills and also volunteers part time in the University of Dar es Salaam Legal Aid Office.
Her journey participating in the 31st Williem C. Vis Moot has been nothing short of exciting and educative.This experience has provided her with a glimpse into the litigation-side of legal practice for which she bears much interest. As an aspiring world class attorney, mooting has helped her improve her analytical, research and people relation skills.
Elizabeth is also interested in urban literature, art, music and giving back to society.
Gwamaka Wilson
Gwamaka is currently a student at the University of Dar es Salaam, pursuing the Bachelors degree of Law in his fourth year of study.
Lydia Igogo
Lydia is a finalist student of the University of Dar es Salaam. Lydia is pursuing a Bachelor of Laws(LLB).
Lydia would like to futher develop herself in the International Commercial Arbitration.
Naomi Mwalyambi
Naomi Mwalyambi is a third year student in the University of Dar es-salaam.
Naomi is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Dar es-salaam.
Shogo Mwakalila
Shogo is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Dar es Salaam. Shogo is a full time student motivated by her parents to become an outstanding and successful woman in today’s society.
Through her academic life, she won best student in Arts studies at Tusiime High School in 2021. She is determined and she encourages everyone to fight for what they desire and believe.
Jan Šlehofer (Coach)
Jan is an Associate in Squire Patton Boggs' IDR department in Prague, Czech Republic, specializing in both commercial and investment arbitration. Jan's expertise as a mootie extends across Vis and FDI Moots.
In the Vis Moot, Jan's performance led him to a #4 ranking in the Hong Kong general rounds, propelling him to the eliminations. His skills earned him an Honorable Mention for Best Speaker and Claimant's Memorandum. In the realm of FDI, Jan secured the #36 spot as the competition's best speaker.
Leveraging his experience, Jan has dedicated the past two years to coaching the Vis Moot team and supporting the FDI team at his alma mater, Masaryk University. This year, he takes on the role of preparing the FDI case, showcasing his commitment to fostering emerging talent.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jan is excited to contribute his skills to the Africa in the Moot initiative. His eagerness to share knowledge is matched only by his anticipation of immersing himself in a new cultural and legal landscape.
